Chiclayo is located in Peru's northern region and was a region of the pre-Inca Lambayeque culture. Much of the Lambayeque history remains in the architectural sites, as much was lost during the Inca expansion into the area. Chiclayo is the home of the famous Valley of the Pyramids with over 26 adobe structures being preserved and studied by archaeologists.

Day 1: Chiclayo Archaeology Tour

Chiclayo Tour: Excursion to the Temple at Sipan, of the Moche civilization dating back over 1,000 years ago. This site is the most decorated burial ever found in the Americas, our historical tour at the nearby museum will go into detail about the tomb and the pre-Inca culture of Sipan.

Meals: Breakfast at hotel (unless arriving from home country in afternoon).

Day 2: Chiclayo Pyramids & National Sanctuary

Tucume Pyramids: Tour of the Sican Museum to further explain the irrigation technology and everyday life of the early Andes inhabitants. Sican culture began in 750 CE and was replaced by the nearby Moche people during the late 1300's CE. We shall continue the day with an excursion to the Valley of the Pyramids home to 26 pyramids of previous cultures.
