Arequipa Colca Canyon Tour

Arequipa is the second largest city in Peru. The city was built with a scarce white volcanic rock during its Peru's colonial era. Arequipa was considered a buffer zone between the capital of Cuzco and the southern Inca Empire extending into Chile and Argentina. Arequipa is visited for its famous panoramic views in nearby Colca Canyon.
It is recommended that you wear light clothing as the temperature rises during the day.
Day 1: Arequipa City Tour ("White City")

Arequipa Tour: Tour of the legendary "White City" built from volcanic rock. Arequipa has become one of Peru's most desirable locations for travelers. Visit to the ancient Inca mummy named Juanita. The tour includes a visit to the Santa Catalina Convent built in 1580. Afterwards we travel to the dormant 5800 m Misti Volcano that last erupted 1870.
Meals: None.
Day 2: Colca Valley Tour (if selected)

Colca Valley Tour: Begin the day's excursion to the National Reserve of Pampa de Cañahuas, where we will see llamas more than anywhere else in Peru. Descend the Colca Valley, which is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. Arrive at the town of Chivay with stunning views of the canyon and pre-Inca terracing. After the long journey it is fair to say that a relaxing time is indeed needed! We will relax in the mineral-rich thermal baths of Peru that are known to cleanse and rejuvenate.
Meals: Breakfast at hotel; Lunch & Dinner in Colca Canyon.
Day 3: Colca Canyon Tour (if selected)

Colca Canyon Tour: Early morning excursion to the Cross of the Condor where the Colca River can be heard roaring below in the canyon, where condors soar above the mountain peaks. Here the gorge is 1200 m deep (3,900 ft), but the highest part of the snow capped canyon wall is on the other side at more than 3000 m (9,800 ft) above the river. Return to Chivay.
Meals: Breakfast at hotel; Lunch & Dinner in Colca Canyon.
